This swing has apparently stood the test of time. The lady who lived in our house before us stopped by and said they put the swing up in 1971, and from that point on it was considered "the neighborhood swing." We put up a new rope (thanks to Uncle Jordan) and Jon made a new seat for it, but the branch is obviously standing strong. (see above picture...incredible huh?! Who knew it could hold all of that?! he he) This swing has been played with more then the entire swing set we had at our old house. It's the simple things in life that end up being the best things!
Our house, after spending all of Saturday trimming bushes and doing yard work. We hauled two truckloads of branches away, but it really cleaned everything up. If you notice we also took the ancient air conditioner out that was sticking out of the front of the house. Jon and I can now officially say that we can do siding!
Don't let the big sad puppy eyes fool you. Touche' spent the weekend chewing two holes in the rug, so I threw him outside where he then dug two holes in the yard! Good thing he's so cute. :-)
Jon had the bright idea to bake not 1 but 2 batches of yummy cookies just after we decided to start a diet. Needless to say.... the cookies won. :-)

YEAH new pictures!!!! I LOVE these. How neat to get the rest of the story from the former owner about the swing. It is so neat to know the kids enjoy the "simple things". This move was the best thing for you all!!! Sorry to hear Touche is in trouble, which rug?
Keep up the good work, the house looks really nice. (I copied those pics too incase we need them later:-)
Love,
Nana
Love the update on the site!! Been clicking on lately and looking for new "stuff". Thanks for keeping us updated on the eastern side of South Dakota!!

The house looks great! Your weekend should be a spread in "Dakota Living" or something.
I lost your email address, but thought you might be interested in this tidbit that came across my desk:
Pick your own Pumpkin
Watertown
Don Brosz is well known around Watertown as the Pumpkin Man. Every year
hundreds of children and adults visit his Pumpkin Patch located west of
Watertown at 2530 Sioux Conifer Road. A wagon will take you around the
three-acre garden, which is decorated for Halloween, so you can pick
your own pumpkin.
I would say that all your work
paid out on your house. It really
looks nice.
You both earned the cookies!!!!
Luv ya,
Gma Sharon
The house looks amazing, Mindy! You have such a knack for all the decorating stuff (even trees and bushes are decorations, right?)
Gosh, what I wouldn't give for one of those dang cookies. :) The swing looks pretty fun too! So glad you all are doing well!
